Jeffrey Lanz, DVM
Dr. Jeffrey Lanz, grew up in Litchfield and currently resides in Akron, Ohio. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Akron and earned a DVM degree from The Ohio State University. Dr. Lanz practiced in Apple Creek, Litchfield, and Kent, Ohio before joining us. His special interests include feline medicine and soft tissue surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Lanz enjoys spending time with his family, sports, games, camping, hiking, traveling, and attending church activities. He also shares his home with one dog and three cats.
Gretchen Zarle, DVM, Low Stress Handling Certified
Dr. Zarle grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts and received her undergraduate degree in Dairy Science from The Ohio State University in 1986. She attended veterinary school at the University of Tennessee where she graduated in 1989. Dr. Zarle began practice outside of Indianapolis where she remained for almost three years. Dr. Zarle is married and has two sons and a daughter, two dogs, and a cat. She enjoys reading, traveling to places she has never visited before, working out, collecting ideas on Pinterest and spending time with her family.
Susan Burkhart, DVM
Dr. Susan Burkhart grew up in Galion, Ohio and developed a love for animals at a very young age, announcing when she was seven years old that she would someday become a veterinarian. She graduated as valedictorian of Galion Senior High School in 1982, then with a Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University in 1986. Her childhood dream was realized in 1990 when she graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Burkhart practiced small and exotic animal medicine in Cincinnati and Zanesville, before accepting an offer to return to the University as Assistant Professor of Small Animal Medicine. She taught in the University’s community practice department, preparing senior veterinary students for private practice. After several years, Dr. Burkhart returned to private practice in Ashland, Ohio before co-purchasing the Animal Medical Center of Ontario.
Ethan Horst, DVM
Dr. Ethan Horst is originally from West Salem and currently resides in Barberton, Ohio. He received an undergraduate degree from Eastern Mennonite University and earned a DVM degree from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Horst spent his clinical year at The Ohio State University and has a MS degree in Biology from James Madison University.
Dr. Horst previously practiced in Sugarcreek and Cleveland, Ohio. He has a special interest in exotic medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Horst enjoys CrossFit and cycling. He also cares for two cats, one of which he adopted while living on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts and has several planted aquariums with an assortment of tropical fish.
Brittany Gulker, DVM
Originally from Columbus, Dr. Brittany Gulker completed her undergraduate work at The University of Findlay and obtained a DVM from The Ohio State University in 2013. She then completed a small animal internship predominantly in emergency medicine at a large specialty practice in Rhode Island. Dr. Gulker's professional interests include emergency medicine and Greyhound health and wellness.
While not at the clinic, she enjoys traveling, riding horses, staying involved with area greyhound rescue groups, and spending time with her family, which includes two cats and two Greyhounds.
Melanie Belcik, DVM
Dr. Melanie Belcik grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and currently resides in Avon, Ohio. She received an undergraduate degree from Muskingum University and earned her DVM degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her special interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and feline medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Belcik enjoys ballroom dancing, skiing, jogging, fitness classes, traveling, and spending time with her husband. She has a Russian blue cat and corn snake
